The sports enterprise in the West has often been seen a racist hegemony applying its own cultural paradigm in the name of safety and legal norms while encouraging its own style of sportswear and coverage of that in the media in the name of freedom. Islam has a higher moral value system and strongly denounces any act which is against the spiritual dignity because Islam holds extremely high respect for women's honour. This behaviour towards a sports is the result of a decline of moral values, a bias towards Islam, a double-standard policy towards muslims and lack of respect for spiritual and religious sentiments of people of various faith and shows lack of morality and tolerance.
Muslim Congress condemns this action and demands freedom of religious practice at all times and in all spheres and that the sports must be kept away from regular prejudiced attitude of victimization of Islam and muslims, due to the fact that the West still is not free of narrow-mindedness towards Islam and not tolerant to recognize Islam as a religion with it's own values, other than the Western lifestyle.
Unfotunately, this hate towards Islam and it's values is witnessed at a time when muslims are promoting respect and peace towards all the jewish, buddhist and christian neighbours. We the muslims in the West are constantly engaged in buliding bridges with humans of all faith by promoting in our communities to honour all the neighbours and treating all humans with best morals.
Muslim Congress strongly promotes mutual respect, peaceful and justful living with all human beings regardless of their faith but condemns oppression, hate-based policies and racism. We continue to spread the message of love in the world through ending every kind of hatred, violence, aggression and animosity.

The violence in Bahrain continues unabated as the mainstream media outlets give extensive coverage to the events in Libya and Yemen exclusively. In order to suppress the legitimate greivances of the Bahrainis, the undemocratic ruling elites have resorted to unprecedented force, killed dozens of protestors and arrested numerous people. The usual double standards displayed by the military powers of Europe and North America have also come to the forefront in the latest escalation against Libya. It appears that human rights in Bahrain are not a priority at this point to them.

Muslim Congress continues to urge you to keep the plight of the people of Bahrain in your prayers. To that end we declare this thursday as the Day of Duas and request everyone to recite Duas Tawassul on thursday night specifically for the Bahraini brothers and sisters. Furthermore, we encourage you to continue to peacefully protest on this friday after the Jumu'ah prayers in order to keep up the momentum of raising awareness in the Ummah and to keep our conscience alive. Last but not the least, please send the following letter to all media outlets informing them of your concerns of the lack of adequate coverage of the events in Bahrain, where the US is not supporting democratic uprising of the masses against the brutal unelected barbaric al-Khalifah cult engaged in a ruthless crackdown on the innocent civilians.

Summary of action steps:

Immediately........Send the letter below to your local media outlets
Continue to call/email the Bahrain Embassy: 202-342-1111
Thur...................Recite Duaa Tawassul exclusively for the safety of the innocent people of Bahrain
Fri......................Organize peaceful public demonstrations after Jumu'ah prayers

LETTER TO NEWS/MEDIA OUTLETS
One cannot escape the plausibility that the lack news coverage about Bahrain is due to its dictator’s subservient relationship with the United States' administration. How else could one explain the downplay of something as substantial as the violence that has followed military intervention of Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Kuwait, to quell the protests on the island that’s home to the US 5th Fleet? Rupert Colville, UN human rights spokesperson, said, “The situation remains very worrying with more people reported killed and between 50 to100 reported missing over the past week.” Colville continued, "We would stress that demonstrating peacefully is not a crime; giving an interview to a journalist is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a crime, nor is reporting human rights abuses.” He further emphasized the media cover up by stating, "Many of those who have been reporting on the situation to the outside world, including to us, have had their communications cut, and in some cases the mobile phones of their close relatives have also been cut-off." To quote UN Commissioner Navi Pillay, "There are reports of arbitrary arrests, killings, beatings of protesters and of medical personnel, and of the takeover of hospitals and medical centers by various security forces....this is shocking and illegal conduct." The recent military seizure of the Salmaniyah Hospital in Manama, for example, is in clear violation of Protocol II, Articles 9, 10, 11, and 13 of the Geneva Convention.

It is ludicrous that a society supposedly upholding the ideals of human rights, freedom, and democracy supports Hammad Khalifa who, like Sadaam, has an established history of violently suppressing citizens to maintain his minority stronghold. But now the American press is also downplaying the outcry of an unarmed civilian population that yearns for constitutional rights that would permit their voices to be heard? Isn’t an objective press a vital part of our democratic system? What a shame that a citizen of our society needs to seek outside news sources to keep pace with the crimes occurring. Let alone the shocking atrocities, it’s not as if Bahrain is of little importance to the United States. Why would the nation that prides itself in unshackling the authority of a king, uphold the right of another king to keep its population in bondage? As such double standards become increasingly obvious, it’s deplorable that the American press is idle while what trust the United States has left in the world is falling further into bankruptcy. The question is if you’ll be a part of this problem by not giving due coverage to the events in Bahrain, or if you will at least cover the events so our society can be informed of these monumental events as they unfold.

Protest against Bahraini killings

Bismillaahi Qaasim il-Jabbaareen

"Ad-daulatu tabqaa ma'al-kufr wa laa tabqaa ma'az-zulm"
(A government can survive with kufr but cannot survive with oppression)

The brave people of the tiny Island of Bahrain have taken on a tremendous task of confronting the tyrannical undemocratic puppet ruler and his despotic regime in a daring effort towards self-determination. Taking cues from the erstwhile collapse of the illegitimate unpopular regimes in Tunisia and Egypt, the fearless masses in Bahrain have come out to confront a dictatorship that is determined to show arrogance to stall the legitimate uprising from becoming a revolution that will result in its demise.

Images coming out of this nation are reflective of a massively positive awareness amongst the populace. In order to quell the uprising the king has sought support from all potential allies who can ill afford this domino effect of dethroning of the rest of the Persian Gulf puppet rulers. After initial attempts at pretending to meet the demands of the people, the regime showed its true colors. It tried to hide the reality and falsely describe this as a sectarian issue and that the 86% Shias were the cause of the chaos against the unelected brutal, Wahhabi cult, which does not even legitimately represent the 14 % of the Sunnis. However, when it became apparent that the masses (both Shia and Sunni Muslims) joined hands and shouted ‘neither Shia nor Sunni, we are united as Bahrainis’, the next step was to begin the use of force. Mercenaries and undercover soldiers from the repressive Saudi Kingdom ruled over by the barbaric "Aal Saud" next door have been deployed and they have begun a campaign of killing with impunity.

We condemn these illegitimate puppet regimes in the strongest terms and in particular the ruthless Saudi regime which claims to be "Islamic" for an agenda to damage Islam. We also condemn the silence of the international bodies that purport to implement human rights but in fact are failing miserably to achieve any stated objective and thus obviously losing their credibility in the eyes of the masses in the middle-east and elsewhere.

We pray to Allah (swt) to give the oppressed people of Bahrain the determination and strength to endure the onslaught and give them victory against the dictatorship. Our heart goes out to all the innocent people who stand for justice and peace and their basic freedoms.

Animosity with Qur'an not Justifiable

An unfortunate event is scheduled to take place in the coming days. Terry Jones, pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, has organized an “International Burn a Koran Day” on September 11, 2010, in which he plans to burn copies of the Holy Qur'an. "Indeed those who commit sacrilege in Our signs are not hidden from Us." (Holy Qur'an 41:40) Muslim Congress condemns this disgraceful act in the strongest of terms. Naturally, the thought of the Holy Qur'an being burnt inspires heated emotions and deep pain in our hearts. Muslim Congress urges all believers to exercise restraint and not fall into the enemies' trap by acting in a rash manner or without wisdom. "And the servants of the Beneficent Allah are they who walk on the earth in humbleness, and when the ignorant address them, they say: Peace." (Holy Qur'an 25:63)

Allah (swt) describes the Holy Qur'an in concise yet awe-inspiring words: "This Book, there is no doubt in it, a guide to those who guard against evil." (Holy Qur'an 2:2). We are proud to have this perfect window through which we are able to examine all things. The Holy Qur'an is the epitome of perfection, from the perspective of logic, science, justice, history, language, or any other angle. It is unfortunate that we often spend more time with our television, cell phone, or facebook page than with this divine gift from Allah (swt). While the month of Ramadan may be coming to an end, our attachment to the Holy Qur'an must continue throughout the year. In his last will, Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (a) said, "Fear Allah in respect of the Holy Qur’an, lest others should excel and surpass you in following its tenets and in acting according to its orders."

Mr. Jones has stated that the Holy Qur'an is "irrational" and that "its writings are human in origin." He is not the first to make such a claim. "Do they say, 'He has fabricated it?' Say, 'Then bring a surah like it, and invoke whomever you can, besides Allah, should you be truthful." (Holy Qur'an 10:41) Rather than accept the intellectual challenge of this divine book, Mr. Jones has instead decided to burn it. To quote Imam Khomeini (r) "This is a sign of your desperation. It is because you do not have logic. If you had logic or reasoning, you would try dialogue or discussion. Islam has logic." Mr. Jones and his supporters appear committed to carrying out this heinous act. "But can you make the deaf hear even if they do not apply reason?" (Holy Qur'an 10:42)

A majority of Christians in the United States are not antagonist towards Islam. Allah (swt) mentions this alliance when He says "...and surely you will find the nearest of them in affection to the faithful to be those who say 'We are Christians.' That is because there are priests and monks among them, and because they are not arrogant." (Holy Qur'an 5:82) Muslim Congress acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of our Christian brethren throughout the United States who have opposed Mr. Jones and his hateful ideology. These honorable individuals understand that the Holy Qur'an mentions Jesus (a) and Mary (a) in great detail and with great respect. "...and made her and her son a sign for all the nations." (Holy Qur'an 21:91) Muslim Congress requests the believers to continue to build bridges with Christians in their local communities in order to work together for justice and to continue the process of educating them regarding Islam.

As is often the case, the hand of the Zionist enemy lurks behind this satanic plan. Throughout the nation they are currently funding anti-Islamic propaganda in order to justify their wars of aggression and implement their satanic worldview. "Act as you wish; indeed He sees best what you do." (Holy Qur'an 41:40) Mr. Jones is simply another mouthpiece of the perverse ideology that is Christian Zionism. This ideology's roots are antithetical to the Bible and its logic is diametrically opposed to the teachings of Jesus Christ (a). There is nothing "Christ like" in supporting an occupying, bloodthirsty, terrorist entity. Mr. Jones has claimed that "Israel is God's special child, and He watches over it. God blesses all who bless Israel, and He curses all who try to come against it." The Holy Qur'an again has a challenge for Mr. Jones, and perhaps that is why he is so intent on burning it. "...If you claim that you are Allah's favorites, to the exclusion of other people, then long for death, should you be truthful. Yet they will never long for it, because of what their hands have sent ahead..." (Holy Qur'an 62:6-7)

By choosing to burn the Holy Qur'an on the anniversary of September 11th, Mr. Jones and his cohorts hope to demonize Islam. This act of antagonism is a shameful and a deliberate attempt to shatter the efforts of all the peace-loving and law-abiding noble Muslims in the US and abroad who are striving to live amicably and respectfully with humans of all faiths. It's an open act of war against the fastest-growing religion in the planet, i.e. Islam and insulting it's 1.8 billion followers worldwide. This action is sure to provide fuel to the hatred and animosity among peace-lovers. Ever since 9/11 the enemies of Islam attempted to divert the people’s attention from those who were actually responsible for it. Causing confusion has always been a tactic used by those who fear the power of the Holy Qur'an. "The Unbelievers say: 'Listen not to this Qur'an, but talk at random in the midst of its reading, that you may gain the upper hand!'" (Holy Qur'an 41:26)

The federal law clearly protects the freedom of religion and the sanctity of all the faiths

The Criminal Code of the United States Federal Government treats bias motivated crimes as specific offenses. Federal hate crimes legislation, 18 USC 245, was first adopted in 1968 and, with the 2009 enactment of the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crime Prevention Act, currently allows federal authorities to investigate and punish crimes motivated by bias towards a person's race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.

Allah (swt) is the protector of the Holy Qur'an. "Indeed we have sent down the Quran, and indeed We will preserve it." (Holy Qur'an 15:9) From the time of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s) until today, the enemies of Islam have attempted to destroy the Holy Qur’an to no avail. In the United States, the battle against Qur’an desecration will not be won in a legal courtroom, but rather in the court of public opinion with the help of Allah (swt). Muslim Congress urges all believers to build strong relationships with your Muslims brothers and strong inter-faith coalitions with other justice loving individuals in order to work towards a society devoid of bigotry, hatred, and disrespect. We ask Allah (swt) to hasten the reappearance of the one who will place the Holy Qur’an back in its rightful position, and we pray that we are able to see the day when it comes to fruition. "Soon We shall show them Our signs in the horizons and in their own souls until it becomes clear to them that the Qur'an is the truth. Is it not sufficient that your Lord is witness to all things?" (Holy Qur'an 42:53)

Ayatullah Sistani, may Allah protect him, is regarded as a highly respectable mujtahid with clear principles.

He has never supported any oppressor in his life, has always condemned oppression in all forms and has distanced himself from all wrongs of the evil governments, peoples or organizations.

He has always supported the cause of Islam and the oppressed people of Iraq , and has desired the formation of a true and just Islamic government, based on unity and respect among Shias and Sunnis and called for unity among all in Iraq .

His insult as a mujtahid, is actually an insult of the larger Ithna Asheri community in the whole world.

We at Muslim Congress, very strongly condemn this irresponsible, unfounded and unfair behaviour of the al-Jazeera, and condemn all those who are behind this insult and demand a prompt and clearly worded apology immediately.

This criminal and cowardly act was performed by wicked people who have no respect for Islam, Muslims or human life. It is clear that the perpetrators of this heinous act desire to create nothing but friction amongst Shias and Sunnis.

This act of public recognition is an indication of the deep-rooted hatred and enmity of the colonialists towards the sacrosanct values of Islam and the Holy Prophet. In prior times they manipulated the economic infrastructure of nations to colonize them and now use the tool of 'freedom of expression' to debase lofty ideals and personalities.

This knighthood award to Rushdie is an insult of the 1.8 billion Muslims all over the world who categorically condemn this act. By doing so the Queen has been debased in the eyes of countless people.

We condemn this act of awarding knighthood to the widely abhorred writer Salman Rushdie in the strongest terms.
